Finding the best New York waterfront hotels will be one of the best and most romantic decisions you will make when visiting this very busy city. Hotels close to one of three cruise ship terminals in New York and New Jersey is always a good decision for those departing New York on an East Coast cruise.  New York is one of the busiest cities in the word and a hotel close to the waterfront or with water views will create a feeling of calm and romance. New York is an exciting best waterfront destination!

Cruise ship terminals: There are three Cruise ship terminals in the New York area. The Manhattan Cruise Ship Terminal, The Brooklyn Cruise Ship Terminal and the Cape Liberty Cruise Port located in New Jersey. It is always best to book a hotel at least one night prior to boarding a ship. Choosing a waterfront hotel close to your departure port is a good way to start your vacation and reduces stress.

Best things to do in New York: There is so much to do in New York! Since we focus on waterfront activities, we highly recommend visiting the Statue of Liberty or a romantic evening stroll or bike ride in the Tribeca waterfront area of New York. But we will let you choose what you love to do with this guide.

Safety in New York: Always take normal safety precautions and always check with your concierge in your reputable hotel as to which areas to avoid. We love the New York Police. They are easy to spot and always pleasant to tourists.

Transportation in New York: Car rental is costly and you will have extreme difficulty finding parking as well as hotels charge a premium for parking. Unless you are heading out of New York City we suggest using the subway to get around. Use a good app. to help you navigate and get a pass. Cabs are plenty but also costly. They are perfect to get you to the cruise ship terminals etc.. Plan your days and plan your mode of transportation well before arriving in New York to reduce stress once you get there. It's a fun city when you plan well ahead of time.

Best time of year to visit New York: Peak season for tourists in New York is of course during school summer vacation. If you can possibly adjust your schedule, visiting New York in early June or early September will give you more freedom to see sites and truly relax while visiting this very busy waterfront city! Here are the New York annual weather averages to help you make an informed decision.
